Just thought I'd let you know that.
I hadn't heard this news until recently. My ex-MIL informed my kids of that fact late last week: "Satan has your Dad"
does this mean I've got a new job description? what will be expected of me now that I'm one of the princes of the underworld? do i really have to make people do that head-spinning thing and the pea-soup spewing effect? :(

Satan's got you? At least he has good taste.
 Hahah!!
He's gonna git ya!
In other news, I'm all covered in foot dust (cough, cough) from dudes shaking their feet off at me over at the UMC forums and stomping off. Not content to stay away, they've returned--no doubt to shake more foot dust on my head.
Hah!
Britt.

I don't understand how anyone can think it's healthy to put a message like what your ex-mil said in children's heads. "Daddy's going to hell. Hope you're cool w/ that."

Exactly, I'm with what Britt said. If it hadn't been said to children, YOUR children no less, I'd be laughing. But how are the kids going to take and deal with that? It makes me angry that a family member - their grandmom - is trying to confuse and poison your children to be against their dad, or even afraid of you. Ya gotta wonder what her intention is, if it's to drive you apart from the kids, what kind of childhood does she want her grandkids to have? :(
Tho on the funny side, it reminds me: someone in our local political scene recently bemoaned the fact that "The Dark Side" is going into certain types of bars to register voters to oppose the marriage amendment. Well, ok so I don't go to bars, but I WAS on the committee that set that up and I did make the phone calls to bar owners about us coming by, so I guess now this makes me a Sith Lord? Muwahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!!!

Anyway, I thought Satan was seeing Saddam...Oh wait, that's right, they broke up over Chris. South Park has film footage proving Satan's a bottom. Hope that suits you.

I just knew you had that "dark side" to you, Zerb! Keltic, I know it does seem like a ridiculously silly way to refer to you and your orientation, I just feel bad for your kiddos. My kid loves her grandma, both of them, and if one or both of them, or anyone whom she loves and trusts said something like that about me, it would upset her, and also frighten her. It is unfortunate that persons with these views have to express them in that manner to those that are easily influenced without maybe fully understanding how to respond to those types of comments.

Keltic: Perhaps the best thing to remember is that you cannot control Granny, the best you can hope to do is control your relationship with the kids. Keep everything positive, be positive about yourself and your life. Try to be positive about the MIL, and perhaps try a form of "love-the-sinner-but-disapprove-of-the-sin", but please, use a light touch, don't lay it on thick.
Put something extra into your kids life. (Les'see here, what do you think you could bribe them with, without being too obvious about it?) Try to find ways to turn things into a plus. Maybe bring some of your nicer G/L friends over to meet the kids. At any rate, I wish you the best.:weee: :agree: :rainbow:
Peace and Love, BruceChris

Anyway that your ex-wife would tell them it not true? or is she just as bad? If someone else was told that I don't think it would have been such a big deal... but your kids... isn't the youngest 7 or so? I agree there's got to be some small way to convince them that granny doesn't have a clue what she's talking about:love:

the youngest is now 8 and I'm not sure if he heard it or not. I spent some time with him friday (the day after) and we did talk about how he might have heard some bad things being said about me. He admitted that he did hear some things, but he didn't say anything specific. The teenagers, of course, were the ones that it was said to. They are pretty clear about granma's clueless-ness.
BruceChris: the kids have been exposed to our gay friends. it's not a big deal to them.
I did get the chance to tell my ex that I did not appreciate the things that were said to the kids. She was begging me to stop the court actions that I've taken, and I told her that the things that the kids have heard are unacceptible. There's more, but it's a long story.

For what you say... I don't think you have anything to worry about... sounds like your kids are very loving and understanding.
Also, good luck with all that court stuff:love:

That poor woman must be bloody cranky and sad, to say something so mean about you to them. I think your calm and dignified presence, and regular reinforcing of that to them, will lead them to their own decisions about which of you is speaking and living the truth.

My question is, Keltic,- how the hell does she know whether satan has you or not? Did God appoint her to be your personal spiritual policeman? No, I forgot-He appointed the Religious Right to do that, sorry, my mistake.
Your ex MIL is a spiritual terrorist and has a pharisee spirit. You just keep on being the light you are to your kids and your partner and keep your eyes on Jesus. That is all you can do. Your ex MIL doesn't know any better and has been blinded to the truth. :)

It is, you're right.
Although I wouldn't be suprised if the kids grow up to become closer to their dad because of it. Kids are smarter than we often give them credit for. I think they'll know the truth.

the 2 that I know heard that comment are 17 and 18 years old. it appears that this very thing is happening. the 18yo is off to college in august, and the 17yo wants to come live with me, which could be a reality within a month because my partner and I are in the process of buying a house.

Ooh! Good luck with the house! Let us know how the process goes. We just bought our house 18 months ago, and it went surprisingly smoothly. We now have our dream house. All the best with you!
