Something to look at perhaps

A Christian women with some strage misinformation about gays and lesbians who I have been dealing with for a little while now, has attacked Soulforce for its stand on James Dobson and Focus on the Family. her latest blog post shows a lack of understanding about where Soulforce is coming from in this campaign against Dr. Dobson.

Since I believe so much in the Principles and Steps of nonviolence as spelled out by Dr. King I know the first and second steps of nonviolence are to gather information and to educate. Since Ms. Stacy Harp is lacking the information about the mission of Soulforce, I invite you to comment "nonviolently" on her latest post on her blog that questions "why" Soulforce is so anti-Dobson. I posted some of the article by Mel White about "why this debate must end", but I thought we should all invite her to learn and grown with us.

Hi Joe~ Thanks for the link and the suggestion, well worth looking at. I wish it were as simple as extending the invitation. But as they say, "Minds, like parachutes, function best when open." And this woman's mind is anything BUT
open. Anything anyone says that contradicts what she wants to believe will fall on deaf ears. If anything, I'm sure will find a way to twist the words into a
"vindication" of her views. Sheesh, talk about "victim mentality"!

I never believe that anyone should be "written off" for good, but if people are unapproachable, as Ms. Harp most certainly is....at least for now, then the best intentioned efforts are an exercise in futility at best. Something else needs to happen in her life, an epiphany or such, to get her to reexamine her beliefs and ways of thinking, in order for her to be receptive.

For now though, she is as much in "tunnel vision" mode as the extreme conservatives who support "President" Bush rabidly, no matter how many lies, how many laws broken or how many deaths he is responsible for. To these people, no matter how much substantive proof you wave in their faces, they won't see it or worse, they'll vilify YOU for "trying to make him look bad". Again, WHO has the "victim mentality"???

But I applaud your efforts whole heartedly. Your intentions speak well of you and I hope that all your efforts to this end are rewarded. :)
