An unconventional matchmaking service began to provide a (hopefully) romantic connection for "people who cannot have sex." But it also has a large number of "comrades, the Chinese nickname for homosexuals," seeking a partner too for very unromantic reasons, i.e. to ease the stigmatization & discrimination from family & coworkers, prevent being publicly outed, etc.

"The tone of some other postings is more tragic in a country where homosexuality was listed as a mental disorder until 2001, and where it remains stigmatized in many places."

"My parents threatened to never see me again or even to commit double-suicide if I do not have a baby soon," said a Mr. Wu in a posting."

I went to the website mentioned in the article and used "altavista" to translate the pages. Here is a message board posting I found.

Absolutely heartbreaking.
