I just saw an interview with Bass's boyfriend (the guy from the amazing race) and he was talking about how much they had to do to keep Lance's life quiet..he said things like they would also go out with at least 2 girl friends and right when they saw the cameras they would each latch on to a girl and either hold their hand or put their arm around them to make them look like a couple..or when they would go on a date they would also have to take at least one other person with them so no one would suspect anything and think that it was just a dinner and not a date...it is so sad to see that they had to go through such extremes just because they were so afraid/scared of what would happen if society knew they were gay...
