My picture hit the local paper

I would post a link, but the online version of the Arizona Republic doesn't show the photo.

Monday, we had a march to the state capitol in Phoenix in support of LGBT rights sponsored by a group called No Longer Slient: Clergy for Justice, and local supporters were asked to march along. I helped to carry one of the huge banners they provided, and so yesterday my photo appeared in the AZ Republic, dead center holding a huge banner and. . .*Scowling*, I don't know why I am scowling! It's kind of funny to me. And I got a real chuckle out of the caption below the pic which identified me by name as being a member of Clergy for Justice. Er . . .I'm SO not clergy! But people might now think that I am, and that cracks me up. Oops!

Anyway, it was kind of exciting and also kind of funny, so I wanted to share.

Thank you kindly!

Thanks!
:D

I was excited to participate in the march. I had the opportunity to go on a gay rights march to DC when I was a teen, but I was soooo afraid what would happen if people associated me with gay activism, I never got the courage to ask my friends to take me with them. I regretted it ever since. So even though Monday's march was tiny by comparison, it was still a march for LGBT rights and so, emotionally, I was fulfilling something I always meant to do.

And the last two days, acquaintances have been running up to me hugging me and saying thanks, (cause they saw the photo in the paper), and that made me feel really wonderful - to be supported for doing something that means so much to me. So I guess I'm glad my photo was used, even IF it wrongly identified me as clergy. Haha!

That's great Zerbie! I would have liked to have seen that picture of you and the others carrying the banner, scowling or not. :)

Clergy for Justice stood with Soulforce back when we were in Phoenix in 2003. We have a picture or two of them.

Hey, I see somebody I know in one of those pictures! Not surprising, he was a founding member of Clergy for Justice. What an amazing group of people! YAY!!!!
