Conference: "The Anatomy of Reconciliation--from Violence to Healing"
Friends,
I'm looking forward to this 2-day conference about the practice of reconciliation and the theologies that demand it, and thought you all should know about it! I deeply respect the work of Sr. Helen Prejean work (remember Dead Man Walking? That's her.) and am also really looking forward to hearing James Alison speak. You probably know that he wrote Faith Beyond Resentment: Fragments Catholic and Gay, but he alsowrote a measured hopeful response to the Vatican's Instruction on homosexuality and seminary postulants. Anyway, I'll be there (helping facilitate reflection sessions) and hope some of you will join us in San Franisco. But sign up ASAP - it's happening this Tuesday and Wednesday! (Well, that's the SF schedule. The NYC and other local schedules may vary. If you're not in the Bay Area--and can't come visit--check out the Trinity website (below) where they've listed other local webcast sites there, with speaker bios and video intros. ) - Jeffrey Hookom Forwarded Conference Announcement: -------------------------------------------- Trinity Institute's 26th National Theological Conference: Featuring:"The Anatomy of Reconciliation- from Violence to Healing" St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church, San Francisco San Francisco webcast dates: 31 January 2005 - 01 February 2005 (Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening) (New York and other local site times may vary slightly) --> James Alison, Author, Theologian --> Miroslav Volf, Author, Professor, Yale Divinity School --> Gwendolyn Zoharah Simmons, Professor, Islamic Studies, U. of Florida --> Helen Prejean, CSJ, Author, Activist Come for all or part of the conference, and bring colleages and friends for thought-provoking small-group reflection on the speakers and themes.
