I mean he represents Tiffin and part of Seneca county in the Ohio House of Representatives - not exactly a hot bed of progressive thought. Hmm, actually not a hot bed of thought period.

He is also a co-sponsor, with a bunch of other anal-retentive rural Ohio congressmen, of a bill to outlaw abortion in Ohio.

I think next on the legistlative agenda is a bill outlawing walking upright and another requiring the surgical removal of opposable thumbs. Makes sense - after all, no constituent should have skills that their congresspeople don't have.

I can't help but feel bad for the guy. I mean, he hasn't even figured out that you never use the Reply All button.

Also from Rep. Wagner (who isn't mine, by the way), we have this wonderful article about how corporal punishment (paddling (spanking)) is a good thing to allow in schools.

If this country was founded on Christian principles, it also spawned the Salem Witch Trials, Jim Crow laws, segregation in schools, and let's not forget the national embarrassment of slavery. If all these things are synonymous with a "Christian" nation, then I am ashamed of this country and all it has stood for in the past. When we live up to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution which guarantees ALL citizens the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", then we can call ourselves an American nation that welcomes differences and ensures freedom for ALL.

The Episcopal Church in Savannah has begun to split over the recent events regarding Bishop Robinson. The reason I mention this is that this sort of egocentric entitlement over morality is a habit that dies hard with many literalist Christians. It is very scary and confounding. I am comforted by the newest wave of tolerance that is swelling over this country. We are desperately behind the times in this regard. When I graduated high School in '82, I wish I could have had the option of moving to California and getting married. However, that was fantasy to think of it as being a reality in my lifetime. Well, some fantasies to come true after all. These Congressman are on their way out the door. They know it, they are scared, and can only spew their diatribes as their last dying gasp; really sad for them, great for the country!

Wow! There just is no good way to translate that one, is there? I wonder just what the original author had in mind? What was wrong or offensive by whatever was meant by "sorcery" or "witchcraft"?
