From 365gay.com News:

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 81st Academy Awards, and Gus Van Sant’s Milk scored nominations in the categories of Best Picture, Best Actor (Sean Penn), and Best Supporting Actor (Josh Brolin), Best Director (Gus Van Sant) and Best Original Screenplay (Dustin Lance Black). Also: Costume Design, Editing, and Score. That’s a total of 8.

Yes I read about this today. Excellent. Totally deserving. Although I haven't seen the other best pic nominees. I did see Batman. I'm a huge Batman fan (actually I am Batman when I'm not Cinderella), but I didn't find this one particularly all that great. It was entertaining, but I thought a couple of the earlier ones were much better. Of course, no one has adequately replaced Michael Keaton as Batman. Heath Ledger gave a notable, if horrifying, performance as the Joker in the current movie.

Milk was my favorite movie last year, but the best performance I've seen in the past year was Meryl Streep's in Doubt.

Isn't it amazing that I can save all those people in glass slippers? You should see how they go really well with my cape & mask.:lol:

I haven't seen Doubt. It's on my list, but mainly because I'm a huge fan of Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
