South Africa's President Zuma Considering changing laws pertaining to gay marriage...
Hi All,
I'm an activist from South Africa. It has recently come to light, not only through private channels but also in the local media, that our President and the ANC ruled government is considering a 360degree turn on the mandate for gay marriage. It seems that the Rev. Ray Macauly, who is an advisor to President Zuma, and his right-wing archaic beliefs are threatening the freedom we now enjoy. This comes from a preacher who has been married and divorced twice, lives in a R15million home and has a history of dodgy business deals. Our President is also not without dirty laundry - he has 3 wives, was accussed of rape in 2007 and just managed to avoid prison for corruption (R50 - R100million) before his election this year. Please keep us in your prayers, and I'll keep you updated. Be Blessed!! Allan Enthusiasm is the best protection in any situation. Wholeheartedness is contagious. Allan,
This is such serious business. I hope people of good sense and good will can band together to stop this erosion of freedom. Many of us have been so impressed with your country's new attitudes, even if they aren't always universally accepted there. It doesn't surprise me that politicians and religious leaders with dodgy records themselves are trying to turn the attention to the queer community. We have so often been the scapegoat for others' misbehavior. Let us know how we can support you. |

I am so sorry to hear this, drallan. It seems like hatred and fear never give up, do they? I will keep you in all my thoughts and prayers along with all the LGBTQ people of South Africa.
The audacity of those who want their personal freedoms will work so hard to curtail the freedoms of others is breathtaking. It seems as if the hypocrites haven't learnt about taking the beam from their own eye befoe they try to remove the splinter from the eyes of another. |
