Wantin' to git hitched!

Soooo, now that my former neighbors in Maine have decided in their infinite wisdom to put the kabash on the yet-to-be-enacted marriage equality law and, in the process, have scuttled my plans for a Maine wedding next Summer, I would like to ask the SF community for suggestions of other venues.

We know the other possible [read: legal] venues, of course, but we want to hear what you all think, have looked at, experienced, etc.

Many thanks in advance!

Toronto!

Great city & friendly people. I love the place. Getting married there made Jonathan and I realize what we are missing at home- real hospitality.

Dawson or Whitehorse

What I have planned for Dan and my wedding is a nice trip to the Yukon in September.

Hey, you and Jay could join Dan and I. We could drive up together and have a double wedding. We will all fit in my Toyota Echo. :D Problem is that Dan and I are both dirt poor anymore. We will have to do it on the cheap. Camping out will be the order of the day.

Seriously, we are thinking of the Yukon or the Canadian Rockies.

Hi, everyone!

Firstly, I'd like to thank Daniel and Pablo for responding. A), B) and C) I would look to them regardless of the topic, so their thoughts are always welcome. That said, I'm a little dismayed more people didn't respond. I didn't say explicitly, but I hope it was understood that straight marriage locales are welcome, too.

But, to Pablo:

First of all, mazel tov!!! As a former non-suitor, I couldn't be happier that you have found a nice boy to marry. [Is he Jewish?? What do his parents do??] However, if it wasn't clear before, I need to make it clear that the only camping I do is during the movie Mommie Dearest. And perhaps a little Kitty Carlisle Hart, on the side. Don't get me wrong; we, too, are poor. AND I LOVE the invite, but -- Bubbe -- there isn't enough Metamucil in the world to get me through a camping trip. In a word: oy.

But don't worry about me. You two kids go off and have a great time!!!

Daniel Nahmod was the musical guest for our services on November 1. He announced that there would be another water retreat in 2010. He was very specific about not camping. I went and had a look at the lodge online. It's beautiful. (and comfortable)
