Ohio State Research
Hello,
We are researchers at The Ohio State University. We are studying the roles that religion and sexuality play in peoples’ lives, and how people cope when those roles conflict. We are particularly interested in perspectives of people who are trying or who have tried in the past to change their sexual orientation (these activities may be called reparative therapy or the “ex-gay” movement). If you are currently involved in any activities designed to change your sexual orientation OR if you have ever tried any of these activities, we invite you to participate in our study. If you choose to participate, please follow the link below to the online survey. It should take about 30 minutes to complete. Please know that any information you provide will be kept strictly confidential, and you will not be asked to provide any identifying information as part of the study. More information about the study can be found at the link below. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/38RFN5T If you choose, you may be entered into a drawing for one of two $50 gift certificates for amazon.com. Information for the drawing will be collected separately from the survey information. Please forward this message to anyone else who may be interested in participating. Thank you very much for your help! Elizabeth Weiss The Ohio State University Newark |
I don't know about the rest of you but this seems like a strange place to be looking for this to me. My work begins with the restoration of faith. I could call it "gay-repair" repair. It shows what a completely dysfunctional society in which we are immersed. We're sick of your shit, plain and simple. Fuck the hell right on off.

Not strange to me at all for the simple reason that I can imagine that many visit this site and have tried out the ex-gay thing at one or another.
I believe that research is a worthy endeavor. Sorry I can't participate. When I realized I was gay after attending Evangel College (a Pentecostal school), I sought out a counselor to help me get me out of dodge. I didn't go the ex-gay route. |
This is written with the tone from the frame of reference that a 'gay choice' has been made and there might be people who "are trying or who have tried in the past to change their sexual orientation" on this site. It can imply that people are here to either find a way to do that or find judstification for their 'choice'. In any event the $50.00 is just too tempting for me to pass by and since I tried to be a boy the first part of my life even tho I knew I was a girl I think that 'activity' in and of itself qualifies me to rush to take the survey!! LOL to that!

You might think that a bisexual person could just ignore their same-sex attraction. It doesn't work! I tried for many years to just be hetero'. It wasn't being honest with myself or anyone else. Thankfully I never tried reparative therapy or the "ex-gay" movement. I am at peace with myself and with God. There is no need to dredge up old feelings of inadequecy or guilt.

The only place I had a really had a problem with the survey was the question where it asks, something like... Was therapy "successful"... Huh? How do you mean that?
I addressed it by explaining (in the previous box) that ~no~ it was ~not~ successful in brainwashing me into something I'm not ~supposed~ to be... and ~I~ was successful in maintaining my self awareness and determination to be the person God ~Created~ me to be. That's still a work in progress, though ~smiles~ ~V~ |
