I wonder why that is....

I just looked at the memberlist and sorted it according to newest members. Here's what I found:

60 new members since 5-5-2006
8 of those have posted.

Many have made only 1 post, and one or two new members have actually stuck around and are becoming part of the regular group.

Join and not post? why?

thanks Nathan, did you see the one I put in the profile? it's hilarious!

On a similar vein, I wonder why the number of active members is always in flux. I could understand if it constantly increased whenever someone made their first post, but very often, the number goes DOWN. Sooooo confused!

And to any lurkers out there who want to post - it's okay, come on and talk to us!!! We don't bite (often. ;) )

How often does someone have to post be an active member?

Maybe there are a lot of people who sometimes don't (and sometimes do) post often enough to be counted as an active member?

Jennifer5 05-27-2006 11:38 PM

I think that might be what it is Lydia. Because I think I might count as one of those.... sometimes I just can't post for a couple of weeks....

Jamie McDaniel 05-28-2006 12:05 PM

If a user has visited the website (not necessarily the forums) within the past 30 days, they are considered 'active'.

Members: 1,233, Active Members: 243, Members who Regularly Post: About 25

Here are some neat lists:

As far as website traffic goes, Soulforce.org receives about 1000-2000 unique visitors each day (that's a true figure that does not include search engine spiders.) 70% are new visitors, 30% are returning visitors. Searches on Google generate nearly 50% of our daily visits. When a story breaks in the press or a major website links to us, we see a spike in traffic.

WOW! You have posted a lot!!!:)
I was surprised I was #3, Keltic and Zerbie I can tell you spend a lot of time on here. But then when I think about it the reason mine is so high is mainly from a few threads.

I'll just have to make sure I post a greeting in every new member's thread! ;)

Daniel 05-28-2006 09:23 PM

Steve,

I think batgirl is back.....ain't no way you're gonna catch up. She's got wings now and flies at night. :D

Oh.....Zerbie....is that you? Glad to see you're handing around again.

Love ya,

Daniel

Jennifer5 05-28-2006 09:32 PM

:D Keltic have at it... but I have to say I don't think it will work... she's got a ton on there.

Zerbie 05-28-2006 10:00 PM

Bwaaahhhhaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh *&$%!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not only a forum addict, I'm the one who can't shut up!!!!!!!!

Omigosh - I KNEW exceeding 600 posts was a lot. But I wasn't comparing to anyone else. . .holy crap I"m embarassed now.:o :o :o

So anyway, one more day of vacay - but the ubiquity of free high speed internet in hotels has spared me the agony of forum withdrawal. I literally tell hubby to pull out the laptop so I can get my fix for the day.

Thanks for the welcome back, Daniel.:) Guess what? I "adopted" a Mexican freetail bat the other day, so I am now the proud parent of a baby bat. :D

Oh and er, Steve, how'd ya like to make 200 quick posts? I'm feeling a little embarassed now and would appreciate the company.

Jennifer5 05-28-2006 11:23 PM

:D You shouldn't have said that Zerbie... now I feel like I have to try and catch up.... Steve we should start a forum and just talk back and forth until we get to 600....

keltic63 05-29-2006 08:09 AM

I have 4 more days of work, and then I'm on vacation! It'll be a posting frenzy!

Jennifer5 05-29-2006 05:07 PM

Where are you going for Vacation?

In June, I'm going to be a church camp counselor for our 5-7yo's mini-camp. It's 2 nights and gets them used to doing camp before they join in on the full-fledged all week camp. I'll come home, spend 2 nights here, then I'm taking my teenagers to Rehoboth Beach Delaware for a week. Back in time for the July 4 weekend, a wedding, then a little break in the schedule. Then a week in Provincetown MA in August.
