DO IT ANYWAY ~Mother Teresa~

People are often unreasonable and self-centered. FORGIVE THEM ANYWAY!

If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. BE KIND ANYWAY!

If you are honest, people may cheat you. BE HONEST ANYWAY!

If you find happiness, people may be jealous. BE HAPPY ANYWAY!

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. DO GOOD ANYWAY!

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. GIVE YOUR BEST ANYWAY!

For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. IT NEVER WAS BETWEEN YOU AND THEM ANYWAY!

~Mother Teresa~

Appropriate Words for These Troubled Times

Someone quoted these words to me a number of years ago. I'm going to copy them and put them in my bible and notebook.

Mother Teresa's example is one reason I became catholic. I strive to follow her practice of christianity.

MT also said something like, "If you judge people, you have no time to love them." She did a lot of good in her lifetime, that cannot be denied, even if you dont' agree with her 100%, say on things like her unswavering condemnation of birth control. What MT thought of gays, I couldn't tell you, but you didn't see her spouting off about same-sex marriage and gay people every chance she got, like today's spiritual charlatans like to do. She worked alongside Muslims, Hindus, and Christians of other traditions, never forcing her own beliefs on others even as they lay dying under her care. That is commendable.

She was a great woman, and if half of the world's Christians (rephrase, if half of the world's population) could be like her, the world would be a different place.

FWIW, I read that she has comforted many people with AIDS as they died in her arms. That has to count for something.
