Mormon Leader Apologizes

... for the hurt Prop 8 caused LGBT church members and their families. Doesn't erase the enormous role the LDS church played in the whole Prop 8 saga, and I'm personally not letting the Church off the hook just yet, but any occasion for dialogue is a move in the right direction...

Very interesting article

Basically, you have an apology and some movement on the ground within various organizations which are presenting the hurt, anger and sorrow that has resulted from the Church's actions.

This is all good. And I don't mean to be pessimistic, but Gay Mormons are fighting quite the fight. It is going to take a great deal more to change matters.

The leader saying he is sorry? That is something- and heartening. The leader going back 'home' and being the fulcrum for change within the power structure? That is another matter. That takes more than an open heart. That takes a committed mind and heart together. A heart and mind with legs.

Does this leader have a good pair of shoes? He's going to need a thick sole.
