And this was my response to the issue:

Dear Mr. President:

It has been found that a person's sexual orientation is a condition of birth, as much as skin color, or gender. It should not be a reason for discrimination, any more than skin color, or gender.

In the time of Galileo, many church officials attempted to use biblical exegesis as a source of scientific understanding. It did not work then, and it will not work now.

It would be nice to have a carefully worded statement from, say, the Surgeon General to adress that effect.

7:00-9:00 tonite, in Mpls, at loring park, There was a candlelight vigil for those bullied in our schools. (EDIT: I have now heard that it has been 7, lost to suicide in the Minneapolis school districts alone.) Most of our community leaders were there. Many mothers of the unfortunates spoke. There were upwards of a 1,000 people there.
