Need Activist Help
 

Hello All, I'm obviously new to SoulForce, but found your site because I was seeking help. My son came out to me a few months ago, and I'm just getting up to speed. I love him so much, and it angers me that he was forced to hide himself from me and his family so long. He believed our faith in Christ was greater than our belief in him, so he hid. He contemplated suicide on a couple of occasions. We are grateful to God, he never carried out that mission.

In any case, I came across a site called www.RantRave.com which could be a great vehicle for posts in support of your efforts and others. Unfortunately, there's one self-proclaimed Christian minister who seems to have taken over the site and continues to jam his hate-speak down everyone's throats in the name of the Bible, God, and Jesus.

Here is an example of a post he wrote recently basically bashing the "It Gets Better" Project.

I just don't think I know enough or am strong enough yet, to write contrary pieces to his. People on the site are trying, bless their hearts, but he's getting thousands of hits and making money off his hate speech.

So, I thought I would ask if there are people out there willing to join the site, and start putting counter commentaries to this gentlemen as well as posting raves as to the great stuff this organization is doing!

Tanya, this person would seem to have this site pretty much locked up,
 

and his mind almost totally so. There are many other sites out there that are much more accepting. To me, at least, "HE" does not sound to be "of God", and certainly not worth the pain.

http://www.sisterfriends-together.org/, which is operated by Candace Chellew-Hodge, a lesbian minister, (Oh yeah, you did say your Son) She also writes for http://www.religiondispatches.org, which is an open and fair minded site which explores a wide variety of Christian and moral issues in our society. (And has about 15 other writers, most of them men.

Don't judge yourself, and DON'T let others judge you. You are as God created you, and you sound like a good person.

Three thoughts. 1. check out PFLAG. Parents, Friends and Family of Lesbians and Gays. They have chapters in most large cities in the U.S., and they have a national website. www.PFLAG.org
2. Complain to the webmaster for this site. The fact that "HE" is writing all of this crap strongly suggests that either the webmaster isn't paying attention, or that he just doesn't care.
Create, or find another website, invite the people you trust, and try to find a way to get
"HIM" banned.

On Soulforce, it is often mentioned that our participation is down. Once you start a thread on soulforce, your bunch can post to it forever, more or less. And we can have some very restrictive policies for anti-gay Trolls. Like banning them.

There are many GayAndChristian sites out there, and Google can find most of them. Oh yah, http://www.welcomingresources.org/ is FOR searching gay Christians, and they have vast resources.

Please don't feed the trolls at RantRave. It just makes them bigger and bolder when someone responds. When everyone ignores them they get tired of "playing". PFLAG is a great resource. They helped me as a person coming out years ago. You might also want to look at the Trevor Project if you haven't already.
