I love this forum and love this thread! Thank you for starting it, Vanessa.
I love who I am. I love my partner (husband) so much its ridiculous.
I also love the gay community (whatever that means) and as I've said so many times, identify with it. There is going to be a Pride parade in my town this Saturday, and I'm totally jazzed because I haven't been to one since 1999.
I am thankful that I have known gay people for most of my life (since about age 11 or 12). But that didn't become a truly joyous thing until I started meeting folks who were "out" of the closet instead of afraid, and all my friends from middle and high school came out (when we were in college). Somehow, all of us closeted Ls and Gs and Bs, certain we were alone, we had all found each other when we were 12, 13, 14 years old. Or as my best gay guy friend from high school likes to say, "There must have been something in the water fountains at ____town High School!"
