I don't like to frame our struggle as a "culture war"--that's a term that comes from the right wing. "War" implies that the Christian Right is defending itself against an aggressive "enemy." "Lying" and all sorts of "collateral damage" is justifiable when one is defending oneself in a "war" agains an "enemy."
We need to get beyond the "war" frame and start insisting that everyone behave like we're living in a civil society, not a battlefield.
I like to think that we are seeking justice, the restoration of that which is rightfully ours. In seeking justice we need to do it with wisdom, courage and self control.
I agree with you that the term "culture war" diminishes what we are about.
