Thanks for your post Bruce; I read it with interest. I've cared passionately about our "causes" since I was very little, and never knew what I could do about it. . .for years I wrote letters and contacted legislators, followed the issues in the media, and discussed the issues with friends. Suddenly, the state I live in now has proposed a marriage amendment, and the local LGBT community has tightened its organization and is training hundreds of volunteers for a campaign like the one you so recently worked in. I am one of the volunteers they are training, and I can already feel how exhausting the campaign is going to be. The vote will be next November. I appreciate your detailed description of the campaign in Missouri, and am so glad for you that you did everything you possibly could to defend our community, even winning in your district. I think the fact that you fought well matters a lot.
