If this country was founded on Christian principles, it also spawned the Salem Witch Trials, Jim Crow laws, segregation in schools, and let's not forget the national embarrassment of slavery. If all these things are synonymous with a "Christian" nation, then I am ashamed of this country and all it has stood for in the past. When we live up to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution which guarantees
ALL citizens the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", then we can call ourselves an American nation that welcomes differences and ensures freedom for ALL.
