I'm very glad that you have found this site, you will only grow to love it more over time (at least I have)!
You've gotten a lot of wonderful responses from people already!
Here's what I can say on a personal level... and it's completely possible that you may not feel the same way.
I think that being honest with yourself is
the most important thing, everything else with feel pointless if you can't first learn to love yourself for who you are.
However, secondly.... What your family doesn't know, when it comes to these type of things, won't hurt them. Although it feels wrong to keep a secret from you loved ones, they won't know the difference. In other words, all I'm saying is- before you tell your mom, you need to make sure that you're ready to do so.
