His reputation as a Christian preacher proceeded him. Some would argue in reality he wasn't... I don't know.

The use of MLK's image and his reputation, the usual association to "Christianity" when "religious oppression" is mentioned, Mel Whites own concerns... Perhaps it is seen more as the enemy here?
