America is spending about $2.5 trillion dollars a year on health care, or about twice as much per capita as other western industrialized countries.

EDIT: That is about $7,700 dollars for every man, woman, and child in this country. Or $8,200, depending on what your sources are

If Obama can begin to make good on his claims of bringing that down by almost half, that trillion dollars has to come out of somebodies pocket, and that somebody will fight tooth and nail, lie, cheat, steal, and if necessary cause riot in the streets. Obama is going to need all of the help he can get. And we'll make a lot more political brownie points if we're in there to help.
