Great points, psycho drama. The Bible was not written as a geology text, a biology text, or a psychological text. It was written as a moral guide and to tell the story of Jesus. It was also written in a time when homosexuality was not understood the way we understand it today. There was no scientific understanding of homosexuality back then. Now we have learned a great deal--these people want to discount the findings of science so that they can hang on to outmoded prejudices based on a lack of basic science education.
The problem with the whole "the bible says it's wrong" crowd is that they may have read the bible but have no context in connection with what they read. Modern Bible exegesis is a far cry from what their pastors are telling them.
Also I would like to point out the words of Jesus: "Judge not lest ye be judged" and "Take the log out of your own eye before you seek to take the splinter out of your brother's eye." Oh yes, and He also healed the Centurion's pais--in other words his gay lover. I didn't see any lectures on homosexuality before, during, or after the healing.
As I recall His only comment was that he had not found such faith, even in Israel.
