Great Reading
Kara, I learned much just from reading this. It's the first time I've read it. What I come away with is that many people don't see how discrimination against a minority group affects them. One thing about privilege in many cases is that someone else may be denied their rights. As a African American and a transgender person I know this all too well.
Another point I stress is that many, many people really don't know or understand the issue that is at hand. It takes time and effort to know how a person ticks. When I came out I needed to understand what GLBT people face and experience. I can say that I am a better person for doing this.
