The Prop 8 trial is exciting and nerve wracking all at once. I think if we lose, it could definitely lead to more obstacles in the future. But in the long run, I agree with Matt. It's a win either way. Besides, from some of the things I've been reading, the pro-Prop 8 arguments are the same old, silly, tired things we've heard all along.

However, given the dynamics in the vote ultimately against televising the trial, I think we would give a good guess as to how a SCOTUS decision would go, at least right now. Of course, it's just as likely they would reject the case too, just to avoid having to deal with it. Hard to say.

The local rag, though professing to be liberal, gives way more time to the anti-marriage equality side. So far they have been fairly silent on the trial. Thank goodness there are quite a few bloggers, but sometimes it gets mind boggling to read the back and forth.
