I'm actually a straight woman but I hang out in my city's gay bar, which is just 3-1/2 blocks from where I live. It's like having a local pub. The people there have been good to me and good for me.

I have problems with depression, and one of the things that goes with that is a tendency to isolate myself. That's a fancy way of saying that I'm a nerd who doesn't get out enough. The gay bar helps me get out more. I owe the GLBT community a lot.
