Talk about guided by the Spirit!
As an Episcopalian peace-activist (straight, but gay friendly), I learned more about Soul Force several years ago at a Fellowship of Reconciliation annual conference where I also met our new (openly gay) Bishop of New Hampshire, Rev. Gene Robinson, who is also a member of our Episcopal Peace Fellowship and a former C.O. (during WWII?). I kept further inquiries on a "back-burner" while finishing a resident chaplain's program at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA, where I now work as a (per diem) hospice social worker, which leaves me a bit more time to pursue my interest in peacemaking and nonviolence, especially through promotion of "A Vow of Nonviolence" for members of the Episcopal Church (some members may be familiar with this Vow's popularity in Roman Catholic and Unitarian denominations). I found your detailed history of vows more comprehensive and insightful than anything else I have seen or read on the subject! Thank You! And now I find a wonderful forum in which to further discuss Walter Wink, whose "Jesus Third Way" I skimmed rapidly in seminary, and would be very interested in discussing further. Many thanks, & Blessings to all of you. Shalom+ Grant B.
