Do you want our country to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq and increase spending on Bush's war?
You can join with the United Church of Christ in telling our leaders that is not acceptable. www.UCCTakeAction.org/nomoretroops Note: If you are not involved with the UCC, you can edit the default message. I'm not officially a member of a UCC church, but I probably will be one day. Alternatively, you can sign a petition at MoveOn.org. http://pol.moveon.org/noescalation/ After signing the petition, call your representatives in Congress too. Ask to speak with them or just leave a message. It's easy. This was my experience. Staff person: Congressman Chandler's office. How can I help you? Jamie: I would like to speak with my congressman or if he is unavailable I would like to leave a message. Staff person: You can leave a message. What is your name. Jamie: My name is Jamie McDaniel. I'm from Lexington, Kentucky. Staff person: Ok, what is your message for congressman Chandler? Jamie: I am very concerned about more of Kentucky's young people being sent to Iraq. I just heard that President Bush is wanting to escalate the troop levels by another 20,000. I want Chandler to oppose this increase. Last edited by Jamie McDaniel; 01-12-2007 at 11:36 PM. |

I tried the link for UCC and it said there was an error, and so I clicked on MoveOn.org and they want a contribution. I don't have any money right now to contribute, but did want to sign the petition.

Thanks for the link.
Honestly I think what the President is doing is profoundly undemocratic and disrespectful of the views of the people he claims to lead and represent. We just had an election, and the views of the people were made clear then, and are being echoed in the polling being done today. To escalate a war under these conditions is profoundly disrespectful of the will of the American people, and I honestly think it should be resisted at every level. I voted for GWB in 2000, and I originally supported the war in 2003, but regardless the approach that is being taken now by this administration is, frankly, arrogant, disrespectful and downright dangerous. |

If anyone is interested, I've been getting some information about the Christian Peace Witness for Iraq, sponsored by the Christian Alliance for Progress and many other religious groups.
I think it is vital that we take a stand against this war. I wish I could go to the Christian Peace Witness event in Washington on March 16th. I can't really afford the trip right now, but if I find a way that I could stay cheaply, I might just make the journey. I think this link should get the information for anyone who is interested. I think, after you get to the site, you then have to clink on the pdf link to get more info. http://www.christianalliance.org/sit...963&ct=3310667 Susan

I can't sign the UCC petition either. I've tried about four times, and it keeps telling me there's an error with my zip code, but I've checked and there is no error. Argh!
