Default if you care to engage in some dialog....

http://iamtheson.wordpress.com/

I ran across this blog last night when I was looking at my own blog. I made some comments. Others have gotten into the discussions. If you feel like you want to sharpen your skills, this might be a good place.

here's a portion of the post that got a reaction from me:

Quote:
When I love someone. I try not to upset them or hurt them. I suppose you would call that respect or consideration. What I don’t understand about the gay movement is the lack of respect.
For example, gays are fully aware that their physical relations amongst themselves upset heterosexuals. In many gay parades and other activities, gays tend to push their orientation in the face of everyone.
If something is said to the contrary, the person who says it is the bad guy. If gays really loved their neighbor, they would not display that which offends so many. I don’t display my sexuality with a women in front of an audience, for the same reason.
When gays demand rights such as marriage, the same lack of respect is shown. Why rock the boat?

so, in the comments section, another poster has just asked about his love of riding motorcycles.....does this mean he has a motorcycle orientation?

I responded with a clear response that I trust current research to declares my orientation a complex mix of biological, cognitive, and environmental factors.

Then I said, if riding a motorcycle (the behavior) defines one's orientation, then every time I walk into a garage, I am a car.

Well actually we see heterosexuality thrust in our faces all the time ,look at Paris Hilton on tv among others. They seem to flaunt their sexuality all the time, even young teenagers. What does sex sell ,cars, and just about anything that appeals to the consumer. What about those slinky outfits that cheerleaders wear. I've even seen teenage girls wear nearly next to nothing to promote carwashes that helped raise funding for their schools.Give me a break. What about r rated movies or even x rated movies where they bare all? I even mistakenly picked up a penguin movie for rental I thought was for kids and found out it was an adult movie about penguins having sex.Penguin porno I guess when I brought it home my niece pointed out it was R rated and adult and I said ,"Wha----?" "You are not watching it!!!!"

As far as gay pride,if heterosexuals don't like what they see in gay pride or other events, don't attend them.D-u-u-h. Just like when you see something on tv that doesn't appeal to you , you switch the channel or turn the tv off.

Hooters would offend me (Basically because I don't like the idea of "sex sells food") Why doesn't anyone care about my feelings when I don't think having somone's boobs thrust in anyone's face in order to make a living is nothing short of exhibition and flaunting sex to sell? What about young girls who are encouraged to dress up like sexpots. My reaction, they are too young and I personally wouldn't want to see old perverts foaming at the mouth oogling them. Heterosexuals flaunt sexuality like it isn't anything or like it isn't something personal and intimate all the time. Give me a break.Porno is over a 10 billion dollar business in the US alone.

Anyone who has ever seen desperate housewives has seen an older woman having an affair with a teenage boy. But no one says one word about it, flaunting sexuality? And adultery too. What about the objectification by heterosexual men of women as sex objects? That doesn't offend some of us? From seeing all this heterosexual sex being flaunted everywhere and anywhere, you'd think they were obsessed with sex sex sex...LOL

And to make a point there are number of things that offend many people, "Why rock the boat?" is actually saying keep in the closet where it belongs and accept your status as second class citizens. What would have happened if blacks didn't have the civil rights movement as not to upset white people?(Many were offended and upset, namely bigots who didn't want blacks to have the same rights as they had. ) Perhaps out of "consideration" for those so upset by the movement, they should not have stood up for their rights or rocked the boat? Doesn't that sound absurd?

Preach it Sister! I don't understand heterosexuals sometimes. I mean seriously, do they have to flaunt their "lifestyle" at me all the freaking time. It's like where ever I go there they are, kissing, or hugging, or you name it. Everywhere one looks there is heterosexuality being "flaunted".

Pride is like Mardi GRas, Halloween,Spring Break, or New Year's Eve, it is a BAchanalia. A time that people have lewd behavior. People who don't like to see it shouldn't go to it. However, the same people who behave like drunken eejits at these events are probably stuffed shirts the rest of the year. People have to let off steam.

I don't like Hooters either, it's tacky. Women showing their boobs for Mardi GRas beads, and guys in chaps with their behind sticking out are also tacky. I don't like to see it. So, I don't go to Hooters, and I go tto the tamer Pride events. That is, if I go at all, it being a fair distance from me.
