Default Hi from Petrese

Hi,
It was so nice to find this site and know that there is a group such as this fighting for basic human rights in a peaceful way. I am on the board of directors for my home states Human Rights Coalition and have worked to promote equality for the GLBT community for several years. The driving force to become involved for me came after being brutally discriminated against by the Midwestern Fortune 500 engineering firm I had worked for when they found out I was Transsexual. Since then I had moved to New York to work in a high level position for the city and more recently relocated to the West Coast for the engineering position that I currently hold.

Although I advocate and work for Human Rights for all people, I feel that the last frontier if you will, of establishing Human Rights and equality in this country is for people who are GLBT. Only through positive exposure to the truth and understanding will society as a whole eventually come around. What Soulforce is doing is so important on so many levels and I would love to lend something useful to this group.

Default Welcome, Petrese

I have known many transwomen, there are three that are members of my church. It's good to see that you are making your mark in the world.

Some churches have policies concerning gays and lesbians, often very disputed policies. Many of these churches have NO policies on trans people. They do not even admit that the question exists.

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

Thanks, I have been looking for a church in my new location, the ones I have visited wouldn't be to welcoming if they knew I was transsexual. And they practically are begging myself, and other newcomers to join. Those I have tried all sooner or later have sermons that preach this hatered towards Gays. Of course it is veiled in some rediculous retoric. And this is how I found Soulforce, by searching for a way to promote what God is really about. Because I have read the bible more than once, and it doesn't say what these people are saying it does.ticipate with a Human Rights group in one state and live in another. Because I found out first hand what happens when people know I'm GLBT. I can survive, live and work in one place, making it possible for me to work for positive change in another.

Default Petrese:

In Genesis 5 it says that "God made them Male and Female." But if you study genetics and embryology, as you probably have, you have come to realize that God made each and every one of us "Male and Female", not male or female.

Petrese,

Welcome to Soulforce. I'm glad that you have joined us. I'm looking forward to your perspective on the struggle for LGBT rights and to learn from your experiences.

Smile Welcome

Welcome to SF, Petrese. I am transgender and a crossdresser.I'm concerned about transgender issues and belong to a couple of organizations that are working towards equality. I loved reading your post which was very encouraging.
