Support for the LGBT Community

"While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect."
-- Barack Obama, June 1, 2007

Thumbs up Lol

I never thought I would live to see the day that a statement about our equality and an agenda to secure it would be on the White House website.

Not to sound cynical (screw it; of course it sounds cynical), but I'm done applauding words. I get that it's a big deal where those words appear, but they're still words. You can bet yer hat (or anything you'd like should you be lacking a hat to bet) that I'll be getting "WOO HOO" excited at actions, but in the meantime: I feel like I've seen this before.

This is where we come in, Alecto. We need to become active and see these things through.

Very cool .

I agree with Alecto and Gennee on this one though, I'll get really excited once I see some action. Just because I really do feel like I've seen this before. During interviews that took place at the beginning of the campaign, when he mentioned that he supported gay rights, I believed him. I also believe that he will get to the issue a.s.a.p.

There is hope.
