The thread Love and Money: Valentine's Day, got me thinking about it.
Is it possible that the recession will be good for us? Think about the way that it is testing relationships. I think perhaps the recession gives people a chance to remember what's really important. When there isn't much money, people find other ways to be 'happy'. They are reminded that money never did but happiness. Happy Valentine's Day! This one could be special, you'll be reminded that money can't buy you love.

This doesn't mean that adversity doesn't suck. it does. It just means that good can come of it if you are looking for it. God also has a way of lurking about in the midst of difficult times waiting to give us a leg up into new insights. |

![]() The quote that comes to mind: "The worst thing that happens to you may be the best thing for you if you don't let it get the best of you." Since other than your response, it appears that this thread may be a dead end. Let's expand. What are some other good things that have come from this recession?

Adversity will come. It's how a person handles it. Can they see what's really important? Will they look to God for guidance? Will they keep their outlook positive or will they fold up the tent and quit? Adversity is hard but it can teach us what is really important.

Well... we have learned that the economy was entirely supported by consumers spending money they didn't have for things they didn't need. Perhaps now that that house of cards has collapsed we can build an economy built on something more substantial? |

And that every seriously free-market Republican administration is usually followed by an economic downturn. And that those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them.
