Everything comes to an end sooner or later.
When I read this news over at Towleroad, my first thought was that his successor will be a different personality. And that is a good thing. Dobson was the Arthur Godfrey (those under 50 may need to google him!) of religious oppression of gay people: he did it all in a warm soothing voice. The organization was built around the man. Will it diminish in influence? I guess we will see.

and perhaps, JD figures that his glory days are over now that we have a democrat in the White House.

It is already diminishing with or without his influence. Focus on the Family may have been a good idea for many Americans in 1977 when Dobson first started it, but this is not 1977. The nation has done a lot of growing up since then.
Arthur Godfrey? OMG! Even I barely remember that guy. Rick |

I don't think Dobson's going away. Wonder what's coming next...
