I've been living in Iowa for most of my life, and I can honestly say I'm very proud of the people in my state. We cacussed for Obama, we were a blue state, we were the first state to allow women into public Universities, one of the first states to advocate for women, tran-sexual/trans-gender, and gay rights, and now we're the third state to lift the gay marriage ban! Way to go!

I'm currently going to school in Iowa City, and the night the ban was lifted I attended a celebratory rally. The energy there, and in the city itself for the rest of the night was fantastic!!! I'm so happy for all my gay friends it's difficult to express my joy. I can't wait to attend a same-sex marriage in my state!!

Default Iowa strikes down gay marriage ban

It is a very simple question. Should gay/lesbian/trans gender unions have all of the same rights, privileges and responsibilities as those afforded to married couples. The answer is yes. A marriage is a merging of the rights, privileges and responsibilities of a man and a woman. A union is a merging of the rights, privileges and responsibilities of a gay/lesbian/trans gender couple. Problem solved.
