Default Wow

Agreed - a powerful, yet disturbing article. "Reorientation" therapy really is psychological torture and not based, imo, on real science, but politicl & religious ideology that seeks to "change" the so-called "other" of society. From an anthropological point of view, it is similar to witch hunts in some African tribal societies. Those societies ostracize and single out women that do not conform to cultural norms & call them witches. Usually the accused women is forced to confess or be exiled from community life. If she complies, she is welcomed back into society & willingly conforms to social mores. Likewise, the "ex-gay" movement is basically doing the same: taking innocent people that do not conform w/ local social norms in dominantly conservative areas & "convert" them to be "normal" based on ideological and cultural views and prejudices.

Sorry for babbling, but these "ex-gay" movements really anger me.

The thing that weirded me out a bit was I technically applied to all those reasons I'm gay. Hah, my parents show nil emotion, I was in ICU for 3 weeks when I was born, my grandma was an occultist, I'm more like my mom than my dad. And for some reason none of that matters. I'm gay because God made me that way, the rest... is just filler.
