Thumbs up Divorce solution

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/07/18/...riage-divorce/

This speech from the senator from TN was meant in jest. I think it sounds like a great idea. If marriage is so sacred and must be protected from gays, let's also protect it from adulterers and divorcers.

Excellent use of satire, although I'm a little worried that it will be taken seriously by too many people.

Although maybe that's the point?

Lydia: You are probably right to be concerned. With the similarity in mindset between today's Theocons and yesteryear's Puritans, think how many women were burned at the stake for saying far tamer things~!

I think you are both wise and smart to be concerned. I am concerned also about the direction the country is going in. I'm also extremely tired of the double standard of citizens who use their religions to protest gay weddings yet do more to blaspheme marriage through divorce and adultery than any gay marriage could do.

The special rights for the heteros have got to go. Of course, they won't like that. And that's the point. A wedding/marriage has nothing to do with anyone else liking it.

Thanks for letting me vent a little. Have a good one.

Default hehehe...

Reminds me of something I read in high school by Jonathan Swift called "A Modest Proposal". His solution to the problems of famine and mothers having too many children was to eat the children. His writing wasn't meant to make people consider that solution seriously, but it made people think.
