Wow!

Are you going to go with signs or anything of that sort? (Not a suggestion- just curious about what is going to happen)

Whatever transpires, I think it is great that you are going!

no plans to carry signs or protest. I just want to be a witness to the proceedings. Now should I get there and some sort of protest erupts......who knows?

Talking Sounds like an absolutely wonderful experience,

Not to be missed. I'm fresh out of time and money, at the moment. Can you send us updates, and links to news sources? Give her my blessing, give her ALL of our blessings.

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

I attended this church trial this morning. The trial began with the Permanent Judicial Commission reviewing evidence that the charges should be disimissed because they were filed in an untimely fashion. In other words, the accusers were late filing, the statute of limitations had essentially run out. 30 minutes into the proceedings, the Commission recessed to consider the evidence presented, a few letters, some emails, etc. but nothing regarding the evidence in the actual charge, that Janet Edwards presided at the wedding of a lesbian couple. After 90 minutes, the Commission returned and read a statement declaring the charges dismissed because the charges were filed late, and not in accordance with the Presbyterian Book of Order.

All in all, I'm glad I went. There were no fireworks, no arguments, no protests. there were, however, plenty of people there to publicly support the accused minister. I arrived just in time for the beginning of the trial and it was SRO. I would estimate that there were 300 people there. I also think that this didn't bring the issue out to discussion like it could have. In some ways, the decision today allows the indecision of the church to simmer, only for it to boil over in some other way at a later date. While it is a victory for Pastor Janet, it is not resounding approval for lgbt people in the Presbyterian Church. This decision in no way honors our relationships.

I suspect that the decision was based on wanting to sweep it under the carpet. And yes, it will boil up another day. We've seen enough trials to date to know that is a fact. I'm glad you were there too. We can NEVER allow these salem-type witch trials to go on quietly without some response on our part, even if it is simply our presence there.

Steve- I'm glad you were there. And it's great that there was 300 people there with you. Even though things seemed to have been swept under the carpet, the presence of so many counts for something and cannot go unnoticed. As they say, half of life is showing up. And you did.
