Default Hi from Doreen

hi everyone,

I'm Doreen, currently living in MD, but I've lived all over the place (airline brat). I'm a seminarian who got "the call" to seminary before I accepted Christ. I was a UU but just recently became a member of the United Church of Christ.

I was brought up Roman Catholic, which had a lot to do with not coming out until I was 28 and not accepting Christ until I was 46 (I'm 48 now).

I feel I have a special calling to the G/L/B/T community. I know there are millions like I was, wanting so much to feel a part of God's community but hearing only rejection and condemnation everywhere.

My tuition-paying job is a computer consultant to the US Dept of Transportation.

Thumbs up Welcome to our humble website, Doreen

We have many wonderful people here, as you will find out reading our posts. And your intro proves what many have long suspected, that UCC really does stand for Unitarians Considering Christ. And I belong to a mostly gay UCC church, and about half of our congregation are former Catholics.

I spent most of the day meeting with the local chapter of the UCC Coalition For GLBT Concerns, an independent group affiliated with the UCC.

We broke for lunch at a restaurant across from the church, and they had a Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwich, on whole Grain bread. It was on the menu as the GLBT sandwich, of course!

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who can't get that connotation out of my head.

Hello and welcome, Doreen.

Hi Doreen,

I'm so glad you're here! My gf is also a seminarian, and feels a call to work with the same community for the same reasons.

It wasn't clear to me whether you are still studying or on to the next phase of your vocation.

Lisa
