Question Welcome to Little Samaria

Samaria

In biblical times, Samaria was home to the "untouchables"-- people that the "chosen ones" never associated with because they were a mixed-race people. Of course, in those days, all gentiles were hated, but "Samaritan" was synonymous with "filthy". Yet, I identify with the Samaritans. I identify heavily with them. In modern times in the more conservative denominations such as Assemblies of God (where I grew up), there seems to be a place where they stick everyone who doesn't "fit". That place is Little Samaria. It's where they isolate you and make you feel as if you're a "bad person".

The reason why I made this post, Today of all days, is because of a sermon yesterday where the Pastor was preaching against gay people and how "evil" and "disgusting" they are. ...but my cousin is a lesbian. She's not a bad person at all. We grew up together (she's three years older than me) and we were like sisters, and she's family. How can anyone bring themselves to hate their family? Hatred to me is really the evil, disgusting thing in this world, and I cannot believe that, by encouraging a congregation to shut people out because of who they are, people who are supposed to be leaders encourage it.

End rant.

hey that's an easy one! the Bible tells them to hate their family: Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple."

see, the Bible says that you've got to do that.

of course, you know that I say that with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek. Unfortunately, that answer prolly isn't too far from the truth.

was this in the Assembly of God that the pastor preached this? why do you continue to attend there?

Default love unconditional

please get with your cousin and pray for this minister. pray that he will be released from the satanic grip of judgement and that god will take him back. bind his hatred with the precious blood of the lamb (jesus) bind this hatred in heaven and it shall be bond on earth. remember he needs your prayers to open the eyes of his heart ---even clergy fall

Because it's kind of a "rule" at my house. I've tried skipping church but I get yelled at for it. Besides, I've pretty much grown up there, which is part of the problem in the first place.

ok, I had to check your profile to see why. have patience, you will get to a point where you don't "have" to do that anymore. I'll pray that this will be soon for you.
