It's a bad day. I just need all the love and positive thoughts y'all can muster, ok?
Woke up to devastation in Americus, GA (thankfully, the tornados didn't hit us in Atlanta), a tragic bus crash on my route to work (six young men were killed -- a baseball team from a Mennonite college), added to stress at home (my beautiful partner is having a difficult time), and tensions are even high on the Soulforce boards -- it's just a bad day. So, you know, whatever you can muster -- I'd appreciate it. Peace out, y'all.... Susan

Suzer- I'm looking ahead to a very long day myself- I won't get home from work until after 11PM. Such is one's life in the theatre. I've joked that if I every write an autobiography it will be called my life in the dark!
There is so much suffering in the world- and we experience so much suffering ourselves. There are mornings such as this, when we hear terrible news that it seems that it is all we can do to hold on the the little that we think we have. Maybe its nuts to think so, but I choose to believe the the human spirit is larger than all these small matters- and that whatever we can do to pull back into ourselves to get a bigger perspective (I'm not talking about distancing one's self from everything- as in trying to dull one's feelings) on what is going on- the better. There are moments at work when things are crazy (tensions can run very high at times) and I just go off into a corner for a minute and take 10 deep - and I mean really deep- breaths- all the while saying something centering to myself. I try not to leave the house until I've found that center too. It's remembering who I am- and what really is important. Oh...yeah....that. No magic wand here, but I'm taking some deep breaths right now and seeing you calm and peaceful- remembering who you are- with that bright light of divine essence inside you- beaming away.

Sending warm-hearted vibes/prayers your way.
And hoping for you and your partner little things to look forward too. Today my little things include fun chapstick, good smelling lotion, looking back at an encouraging email, a favorite food, working to tengo music... I think it's interesting how sometimes it's the good but tiny minutia of life that helps when large awful things surround... Cloud watching anyone?Anyone else want to share their little things. |

I was shocked when I looked up at the CNN monitor at the gym this morning and saw the tornadoes and the bus accident. I've got two kids heading off on college spring tours in a week or two. I'll keep you and all those families in my thoughts all day today. As far as I'm concerned the tension here at Soulforce is over.... so take that one off your worry list.

Hey Suzer: I am just checking in and read your post. I hope all is better on your end these days. I am with Daniel on this one. When I feel completely consumed and overwhelmed by what is happening in the world around me, including in my own world, I have to take a moment or two to breathe, get in the moment, stir up my inner strengths and peace, to come back to some perspective. It doesn't diminish the pain of the horrible circumstances, but it helps me to get through those moments with balance and maybe some faith and understanding. Those reflective, centering moments have literally gotten me through the last six months of my life in flux. I live by it now. Peace within to you and yours, Vanessa

Thank you all for your kind and thoughful replies. I really appreciate it. The clouds seemed to break apart a bit today. Sometimes, when I can admit I am powerless and let God take over, and let the prayers and good thoughts of others lift me up, the light comes back in.
And, Lydia, those cat pictures are too much! They really did make me smile. Y'all are really a wonderful group of people. Thanks for shining a bit of light for me. Blessings, Susan

Glad you're feeling better Suze. Sometimes the sadness of the world is almost too much to bear. Put on some tunes, check out the wildlife and give your lady a kiss!
