Hey everyone!
I keep rereading everyone's posts and they have really been a great help. My new kitty is a black male. His name is Cosmo. We had bonded over at my friends home the other night. He is a huge cuddler! He is one of those cats that will stay on your lap and snuggle all night! Quite a contrast to my other cat Jingles who wants to have nothing to do with the human species! We also have a dog. It will be very interesting to see how everyone meshes tomorrow when he comes! Any words of wisdom on bringing new animals together would be great! He is used to other animals, my friends have 10 cats and a dog. More good news! I was asked to go to a conference on hospice nursing at a beachfront resort next week from Sun-Thur. The resort is on the beach and all meals, lodging are paid for! This is exactly what I needed! Someone backed out at the last minute and I was picked to go. This will be a great getaway to help keep me busy and get a change of scenery. My ex can then come get her things while I am gone. I am so excited about going! It is amazing how God always knows what we need! Christine |

Hi Christine,
I've never posted before, been lurking about a year. Your original post really touched me, and I wanted you to know that I've been praying for you. I too think the time away will be great for you, a time to clear your head and get a new perspective on things. Sounds to me like you did the right thing, not that that makes it easy. It's never easy. By the way, to all who may read this, your kind words and support have in a way "leaked" over to me, this forum is a great help to me. Thanks a bunch! And Christine, I will continue to pray for you. I know all will be well with you. Big hug, Vern |

Almost all animals are Territorial, and they regard their house, or yard, or however far it seems to go as theirs! Bringing in a new animal very frequently makes them hostile.
Kittens and puppies seem to be an exception. Older animals will usually accept a youngster of many different species. One rule that they learned that made things a great deal easier is this. At feeding time, feed each animal at a different location, that they can think of as their own. Or better yet, get a book from the liberary, or ask the guy at the pet store. Peace and love, Bruce Chris
