Default What do you do...

when you are bored, lonely, or sad?

Do you do something physical, cook up some comfort food, meditate, read......

What is it that gets you through?

exercise really helps me get rid of stress. I have found that if I'm particularly sad, it's tougher to motivate myself to get moving. However, if I just get started, the endorphins kick in and I start to feel better.

I also read. I like to have a few books of humorous essays or short stories around. I like Michael Thomas Ford or David Sedaris. There are others who write this way too. It is entertaining, and doesn't require remembering characters and plot twists from reading session to the next.

Default I write

anything... really. I have a document on my computer called Untitled Document, and whenever I have nothing else to do I just go in, close my eyes, and write. It's fun seeing what you come up with.

I'll write, listen to upbeat music, or reach out to someone else by sending them an email or snail-mail.

Usually talk to someone online... or if it's already late, just go to bed and hope that everything will be better come morning... almost always works

I'm diagnosed major depressive, so they were really big on me paying attention to what works for me. Walks are good, hanging out with friends is good. Writing and listening to music could both be good or bad sometimes. Playing with the dog is good.
If someone's in a similar situation, pretty much everything you really don't feel like doing will actually help.
