Cool The Best part of my Vegas Trip

the best part of the GLAD conference in Vegas was a sermon preached by Mary A Tolbert. here's a link: http://www.gladalliance.org/downloads.html click on Keeping the Faith: Preaching the Good News. it's an adobe acrobat file. Eight pages long, but excellent reading.

Thumbs up

WOW! Everyone needs to read this sermon! It’s so empowering. I would love to have been there. I wonder if it is available on tape or cd?

I was dying for others to actually read it and respond! thanks schoolboi. This particular sermon made the trip worth it for me.

I didn't see anyone with a camera recording that session. some of the material from the sermon was much funnier than it reads. she had a responsive audience and she worked it!

I can see how this talk would have been inspiring - it's a very good read as well. And she's right about who needs who right now.

Thumbs up Studied up...

It's always awesome when someone points to Jesus. This article pointed me to Jesus. Very cool. I traded three or four hours of sleep for some study and prayer. Thank you for sharing, I will be chewing on this for a while.

Default I can't wait to read it again!

THank you Keltic for sharing that. Inspiring and energizing, and I would have been on my feet cheering and crying from the emotion of it. I can see why it was your favorite part of the conference. I want to read it again, I printed out a copy and highlighted some points, but it felt so good to read and take in the words that I think it could be a good boost when I feel discouraged. I had some of these types of discussions yesterday at a training I did for child welfare workers in Phila. on LGBTQ youth issues- so many people are so afraid and feel so threatened with what may come of all this. I feel strong and empowered yet again!!!!!

I was feeling a little ornery, so while I was at my parents' house over the weekend, I printed a copy of that sermon and left it on their computer desk. they attend an Assembly of God Church, and when I came out, I wasn't sure that they'd be there for me. Dad surprised me. He embraced me and supported me. Last night, he took some time to talk with my partner. Dad seems to be able to make the effort to get to know him and understand us. Mom has a bit more difficult time with it, but even she made an attempt.
I don't know if they've found the sermon yet. I may find out later this evening. I do hope they take the time to read it. I don't know if they could actually argue against anything that's in it.
