Update on transgender character on soap

Further down in this category, there is a thread about a transgender character on the soap opera All My Children ... here is an update:

Bianca and Zoe have kissed ... hooray! A few years ago, AMC made news with a historic first lesbian kiss ... the same actress and character (Bianca) involved in that first famous kiss has now been a participant in two historic TV lesbian kisses, with the addition of this kiss involving a M2F transgender lesbian character (Zoe).

The actors, Eden Riegel (Bianca) and Jeffrey Carlson (Zoe) very recently appeared at the GLAAD awards ... where AMC won an award : )

Unfortunately the transgender storyline will continue only into late April, when both actors will be leaving the show (as had been planned). Ratings have been up recently for AMC, both actors had short term contracts, and Riegel stayed on even longer than originally planned to finish this storyline. Riegel wants to return to LA (the show is taped in New York), and Carlson had plans all along to leave for an upcoming role as Hamlet with the Shakespeare Theater Company in Washington DC (this summer).
