Default How to Quote Another User

Here are the instructions on how to quote another user.

The [quote] tag allows you to attribute text to someone else. To use it properly, you need to put [quote] at the beginning of the quoted text and [/quote] at the end of the quoted text. Notice the difference between the two. The beginning is [quote] and the end is [/quote] with the added forward slash.

For example, this code
[quote]Jamie wrote this very insightful sentence.[/quote]
will produce this

Quote:
Jamie wrote this very insightful sentence.
Now you can also do this
[quote=Jamie McDaniel]Jamie wrote this very insightful sentence.[/quote]
Which will produce this

Quote:

Notice how it inserted the header "Originally Posted by."

For more examples on this and other tags, refer to this link:

The editor normally handles this correctly when you hit the quote button, but I've noticed several dangling [quote] tags in posts. Hope that helps.

Default New Multi-Quote feature

The latest version of vBulletin (the software that powers the Soulforce forums) introduces the Multi-Quote feature. The feature allows you to select more than one post to quote in your reply.

To use it, click the Multi-Quote button associated with the post you want to quote.

When clicked, the button changes color to show that the post has been selected.

Scroll to the next post you want to quote and click the Multi-Quote button associated with that post. It too will change color.

Continue selecting the posts you want to quote in this manner.

Then click the Post-Reply button.

To increase usability, only posts within the current thread are automatically quoted. If you have tagged posts in other threads with multi-quote, you will be presented with the option of including those. Simply click the link under the editor as shown below.
