Default Delaware Christian

My name is Al Holland and my partner, Jim, and I moved to old New Castle Delaware eight months ago. I'm an Episcopal priest and the out rector of an Episcopal Church in Claymont, Delaware. We hope to make connections with lots of gay Christians in our area. We'd love to be part of an interdenominational prayer or Bible study group. Anybody know of one in the Tri-state area?

Default Hi, Al

You're just in time for some conversation about ECUSA and the Archbishop of Canterbury's decision not to invite Gene Robinson to Lambeth 2008. Soulforce has got a petition up ... elsewhere on the site ... but there is a thread about it under Soulforce action.

My husband Charley and I are members of All Saints Worcester, Diocese of Western Mass., which is in the early stages of a rector search. Our former rector became bishop of Newark earlier this year. We have an Alliance group in the parish and hang the rainbow flag at the back of the nave with the U.S., Episcopal, Ecumenical and United Nations flags. Check us out at http://www.allsaintsw.org.

Glad to have you on board.

Welcome Al and Jim

Its good to see you've found a supportive parish (is that's the right term over there).

Hope you find much support from the forums too.

Our church had to vote on gay ministers a while back, and I was a sole voice in front of the full church meeting for their support. I knew it would be the case, and had prepared my speil with the help of others outside to try to be rational, but was given very little time compared to the emotional outbursts of the many.

The church as a whole demonination (whoops watch the typing, I mean denomination) was not to expel those gay ministers already in the church, but not to train or induct any new ones.

All this means is those called to ministry in this denomination, who are gay will have to hide it, and that's not healthy at all.

love and hugs

Hi,
I'm not physically in your area, however I like interdenominational contact, and study.
Hugs,
Angel
