Howdy fellow 'thlings. I should probably wait for a saner mood to temper your first impression of me with, but nah. I wax odd often enough it'd fool no one for long anyway. My name is Dean, my moniker is Awdiot and my avatar ran away with the spoon. I am in a forgetful denial of being 42, live back in the city where I was born, but having done been bred elsewhere, its not as hick as it sounds. I am somewhere in Colorado and being indifferently single, open to selective stalking (we'll talk). Art and whining about how hard it is to mix Art with the making a living thing, are annoying passions the recent home computer just might quiet down for once. I like hikes and bikes and rhymes and music and miss the attention span that grounded my fading joy of reading. I no longer want my MTV, my TV TV is an ignored white noise generator and I insist movies keep it under three hours or bring back intermissions, and make the last third a half as much more believable as the first part... Then deinvent the dvd and I'll go to movies again... No I won't, I lied. Oh, and I lied about the rhymes too, just on a roll.
Which I'll milk to make a new paragraph and transition in to yet more me me me, but the bitter, older tired of gays and Christians me. Which is me both. It is draining at best, and normalizes at a low level infuriation to see both groups so easily give teeth to the worst of the others' accusing stereotypes. Gays are sleezier and Christians are illogical prigs and I am plenty aware of the generalizing getting your hackles up. I am also keenly aware of a wasteland of middle ground which isn't innocently being missed, but is intentionally, cunningly and mutually ditched so the oh so rightous and superwounded wallowfest can slime on. (ahhh, witty bitterness. Stupid world.) My search (for, not a bridge, or, trestle or a finger trap thingy. Maybe a nickle to drop an' trick 'em into glanceing down to THE SAME GROUND, people), uhm, search landed me here. I seek support and shoulders, loving criticism and insightfully whacked and challenging viewpoints to decomfy me, and offer the same right back at you. I'll support this groups' endeavor where I can, as it seems inteligent and heartfelt, patient and more noble than I. (as are you, dear reader, conquerer of lengthy bios.[I so rarely get to talk about myself]) I sense it has much to offer, and the capacity to take (as in my crap). ...To better dealt with days. Awdiot (Dean) P.s. there a spell check on this thing? |

Well howdy!
and welcome. So, what kind of art are you involved in? There are several musicians here on the board. . . . |

Dean- What a great riff. And I feel that you've put your finger on something here. Have you thought- seriously I mean this- about writing? Having the aim of getting out a piece or writing myself (academic but not in school actually), I went and took a great writing class. Now on my 4th. Talk about finding that edge of concentration again in the doldrums of my 40's. It's made me feel like something matters again. I think you've got a lot to say. I'm looking forward to your posts. Daniel
