This June I'll be going to my first major pride event. I've chosen a biggie - the one in NYC. I'm trying to get some friends together to go with me for support. It's something about being open and vulnerable about my sexuality to so many people, strangers and yet friends, that makes me feel nervous and excited at the same time.
Any others who have been to pride parades - have any advice or tips? Anyone been to the one in NYC before? Anything related to our culture in NYC that I should see while I'm there?

I hope you will have a wonderful time!
The first pride parade I ever went to was the one in NYC. It was tremendous. It did spoil every gay pride parade I've since attended in smaller cities though, because those smaller ones simply don't compare in size, elaborateness, whatever. Advice? gee, not really. Well - avoid driving in the city. Wear comfortable shoes. Have an awesome time! I just attended my first gay pride parade and festival in Phoenix 2 days ago - scroll down a bit on the main forum to read about it. |
