Have you ever found your self having a hard day.... and some how end up here? This place is great because I find myself (and many others) able to ask for advice on what ever is bothering us... that's a reason I love this site, I feel like although I don't know you in person, I feel like I still know you.... at least a part of you. Am I the only one that feels this way?

No.
I belong to 2 forums, and feel like I 'know' all the regulars on both of them. I even have pictures in my head of what we all would look and sound like if we were in the same room having a conversation. haha! But agreed - this is a particularly supportive forum. That in itself says something about the collective character of Soulforce which sponsors the forum. |

I think it would be great to actually meet some of you some time..... this is really off topic, but is anyone planning on going to the 1000 Watt March in Colorado Springs this July?

It’s cool that you brought it up Jennifer. I think about it a lot. As much as I read everybody’s posts I often feel a sense of comradery. Especially with that Zerbie chick, and Lo though I don't lay claim to her, she's like my... cunning linguist counterpart. ![]() I often wonder what everybody else’s lives are like, kind of like the meaning of this thread. Do they look forward to jumping on line to see what’s new and exciting in the ether-world of GLBT activism with a spiritual bend? So no you’re not the only one. It’s groovy tunes hangin’ out here. P.S. Not ready to march yet but will be watching.

Oh my!
Oops - editing this to tell everyone that I typed my text accidentally in with Emproph's quotes - there is kind of no way to tell who wrote what, except via context. Sorry - I will have to re-read Jamie's instructions. Quote:
Jennifer: I searched this site for info on the march you mentioned, and maybe it's my techno-impairment at work, but couldn't find even a mention of it. Since hubby and I are talking about visiting Colorado this summer, I thought I would see if the march might fit our timeline. I would SO go on an LBGT civil rights march! Hey waita minute, I did - just did my first one (teensy tiny) in January. Got my picture in the Arizona Republic, holding a banner and scowling like the dickens. Which is strange, since I spent most of that march beaming like a child in a candy store. But you know the press, they look for every opportunity to make the story "colorful" - so they painted me as the angry gay protestor.

Jennifer5, as you suggested, I'm posting my reply to your private message here since the information will be of interest to others.
When the Equality Ride ends April 26th, Soulforce will quickly shift gears and heavily promote the 1000 Watt March, Vigil, and Concert. I wish we already had all the info on the website, but some details were just finalized. The dates are the important thing though. July 17-22 will be the Family March from the state house in Denver to Focus on the Family headquarters in Colorado Springs. Small groups of families march 4-mile segments each day from July 17-21 with everyone marching the finaly 3 miles together as a huge group (1000 or more hopefully) on Saturday July 22nd. The march from the steps of the Colorado State Capitol Building in Denver to Focus on the Family headquarters in Colorado Springs is to symbolically "connecting the dots" between the attacks on the lives and civil liberties of GLBT Americans and the anti-gay religious teaching. We're still taking sign-ups for families to march. Each family will get their own webpage much like we did with the Sponsor-a-Rider. So 34 young activists on the Equality Ride and 34 (or more) families for the 1000 Watt March. www.soulforce.org/familymarch But remember, everyone marches on Saturday July 22nd. We'll have a seperate registration for the Saturday event. |

Jennifer: I have to agree, sometimes one of the best parts of my day is logging on to these forums and checking in with you all. As with Zerbie and others, I also imagine what it would be like to be hanging out, all in the same space, sharing and laughing and hugging and connecting even more fully. I had come to feel quite isolated here as a lesbian in a small community with little visible support, and living in a small town area and raising a child, so we are less social to begin with. This has been a source of inspiration, humour, love, and compassion that i needed a great deal. Great idea for a thread, Jennifer! PEace, Vanessa
